Reservation and prices
Your reservation will only be confirmed when we receive proof of a deposit payment for at least 3 nights, no later than 3 business days before your arrival date. Cancellation
Italian consumer legislation regarding right of withdrawal does not apply. We recommend you take out separate travel insurance. However, we do offer the following cancellation conditions (after Art. 1382 Civil code): Payment due if you cancel your stay:
- up to 28 days before arrival: 50% of total
- up to 14 days before arrival: 75% of total
- up to 7 days before arrival: 100% of total
In the case of no-show or early departure: full payment (100%) is due. All deposits are non-refundable.

Rising above Merano is the imposing Ifinger mountain, and at its feet the Tschögglberg mountain plateau and the village of Avelengo. The region is easily reached by car or public transport. The village of Avelengo has a population of 750 at heights of between 1,250 to 1,600 m a.s.l.. The village of the Haflinger horses is a year-round holiday destination for families and riding enthusiasts. The Merano 2000 skiing and hiking area is a very popular local recreational zone: in winter, the child-friendly Merano 2000 family ski area offers, over approximately 40km of trails, ideal conditions for skiers, snowboarders and sled enthusiasts. In summer, Merano 2000 is a hiking area with many opportunities for activity and leisure.
The history of our cabin
Karls Hütte has a long tradition, having been passed down through three generations to its current owner, Andreas, who now takes care of the cabin, the surrounding woods and the animals. For centuries, local farmers have brought their animals to graze the fresh alpine pastures in late spring and stayed here with them throughout the summer, away from the heat of the valleys. They built the cabins in the meadows to live in. Andreas' grandfather acquired our cabin in the 1950's and it has been a central part of family life ever since. After the family moved to a larger house nearby, the little cabin in the woods was only used for short stays, but Andreas' father, Karl, would still set out every day on foot to visit his “retreat”, to spend time with the animals and to keep an eye on things. In 2018, the house was completely renovated and Andreas, who now manages the farmstead, decided to name it “Karls Hütte” in memory of his father: “I love the peace and quiet of the mountains and being at one with nature. In Karls Hütte I can let go and relax. I like to close my eyes and just drink in the stillness of my surroundings. And sometimes, in my mind's eye, I can still see my father making his way up the path to the cabin and hear him say, as he always did, “Whatever happens, Andreas – the world will still keep turning”.
